This is a month long class for beginning pottery students that want to learn wheel throwing.  The class consists of four, two-hour sessions on Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm.

While in class, the students will receive one-on-one instruction to help them learn the delicate nuances of throwing and trimming clay on the wheel.  The studio will provide the clay and necessary tools to achieve this goal.  The student should bring a towel and/or apron to work with as this can be a messy class.

Once the pieces are ready and have been bisque fired, the students will learn about the different glazes and how to get the most success from the glaze application process.

There will be a glaze firing after the final class.  Students will be notified within 7-10 days, after their final class, when their finished work is ready to be picked up.  All work must be picked up within 30 days from notification that the items are ready.

Any class closure due to inclement weather will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity.

Class Description
This is a beginning level class for students between the ages of seven and twelve. The two hour class for June can be selected as a once a week option for a more relaxed schedule, or three times a week for a more intense pottery pursuit.

Students will be introduced to both throwing on an electric wheel and hand-building styles of working with clay. They will then have several projects to choose from and complete. There will be both group demonstrations as well as one-on-one instruction to guide each student during their time in class. Each project will go through the building, trimming, and then glazing process over the course of the scheduled class times. The final firing of all work will take place after the final class, to be picked up within 30 days after notification.

Many sources tell us that not only is creating art fun, it can also provide the following benefits: encourage creative thinking, boost confidence, advance problem solving skills, promote patience, and improve decision making skills.  Students may even develop a life-long love of ceramics!

*All dates are based on minimum student sign-ups.
*Make-up classes are not offered for any missed classes outside of an actual class cancellation.
*Class fees are due no later than the beginning of the first scheduled class.
*Firing fees are due when picking up the final fired pieces.
